Remembering Carl

It is with heavy heart that we share with you the passing of our dear friend and colleague Carl Vanderspek.

Carl passed quietly at home in Burnaby early Friday, February 5th. Carl is remembered by his loving wife Margaret, son Doug, daughter Julie, and extended family. He was predeceased by his son David, 1962-2005.

We ask that you give Carl’s family the gift of privacy at this time as they mourn the loss of Carl.

Many of you are familiar with the generosity and the spirit that Carl has brought to the entrepreneurial community in the Lower Mainland and across Canada. Carl took steps to ensure the legacy of his spirit would live on through his Foundation, The 625 Powell Street Foundation.

No words can truly convey our sadness at Carl’s passing or our gratitude for the opportunity to count him as a friend and colleague. We will honour his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much, helping those who help others.

We look forward to keeping in touch with the many members of Carl’s community going forward and we will be in touch in the weeks and months ahead.

A virtual celebration of Carl’s life will be held at a time to be determined.

Carl P Vanderspek; a truly great man who achieved great things and who cared deeply for the well-being of others.
